Norsk Rikstoto is a private foundation that administers betting services on horse racing in Norway. It also runs its own 24-hour TV-channel Rikstoto Direkte (Rikstoto Live). Horse racing is a sport that involves a lot of fast movements, which persuaded Rikstoto to maximize the viewing experience by producing the telecasts in HD. At the same time Rikstoto needed an open solution and the ability to distribute the content on other platforms besides TV. As a result, Rikstoto required a single solution based on open and reliable technology that reduces content-to-airtime; offers logging and metadata management; provides nearline storage control, live editing and playout with automation. Most important, the solution had to be flexible enough to fit with the existing infrastructures of four different working partners.
