Ultra Motion cameras are high-speed HD camera systems used by major broadcasters on a range of high-profile and international events. Ultra Motion was designed to operate and integrate like a standard camera. With the recording up to 600 fps, Ultra Motion is easily integrated into any normal Outside Broadcast workflow with the EVS XT[2]+ production server. The dramatic, clear, slowed-down footage from Ultra Motion is often used as replay footage directly following an event or "incident" in main coverage. Ultra Motion also provides detail and insight for analysis and artistic purposes. With the latest release of EVS new Multicam 10 software in 2009, all existing XT[2]-LSM recorder and live production systems offer a full control over Hi-Motion cameras.
Based on the new control capabilities provided by the XT[2]+/LSM system, live sport operators are now offered the ability to manage 100% of their hypermotion record, slow-motion replays and clipping actions from the unique EVS RemoteLSM controller.
New XT[2]+ – Ultra Motion workflow covers all features required in any typical Live Slow Motion workflow including:
- Cue and Search using the “Mark” and “Last Cue” keys
- Record and Play using the recording and playback in the Ultra Motion system
- Greatly improved Jog and Search using the EVS Jog Dial
- Utilisation of the “T” Bar for both high-speed search as well as off-speed playback
- While playing on the Ultra Motion the ability to mark In & Out points and save the clip in the XT[2]+, even without controlling a player
- Accessible key to switch between the Ultra Motion control on the PGM
- Direct and easy control of “Block” Recording and Playback in the Ultra Motion with Cam keys A-D corresponding to Blocks 1-4
- From the earliest use of Hi-Motion in 2006, on Premiership Football in the UK and World Cup Football in Germany, the XT[2]+ has recorded and played out the output of the camera when used in live events.
The XT[2]+ production server offers multiple configuration possibilities depending on the type of live sport workflow the production is look for, such as dedicating one of several RemoteLSM controllers specifically to Ultra Motion camera control and the others to control incoming feeds and PGM feeds.
