EVS and Omneon Mediagrid™ system integration

EVS continues to expand its workflow capabilities for live HD productions with the new integration between its production servers, XT[2]+ and XS, and Omneon’s MediaGrid™ content storage system.

EVS XT and XS series servers combined with XTAccess, EVS’ gateway software and watch folder solution, allows to exchange with Omneon’s MediaGrid™ active storage system for fast and seamless access to high volumes of HD media in live and near-live broadcast productions.

During live operations, HD Live audio/video feeds are recorded natively on XT/XS series servers as Avid DNxHD®, DVCPro HD or Apple ProRes® codec files. IPDirector, EVS’ content management system, is used for live and near-live HD video ingestion, production and playout operations. Media content from EVS servers is made available for post-production on Omneon’s MediaGrid™ storage system. The content is transferred as self-contained MXF OP1a files via XTAccess, EVS’ intelligent gigabit Ethernet network gateway. EVS Operators can capture and manipulate the video content from the Omneon MediaGrid™ storage system for production and playout on the EVS server.

Due to the extensive native codec support of EVS’ and Omneon’s servers, the entire workflow can be made with the same codec. This allows fast processing, quality preservation, perfect integration with post-production and no need for any coding/decoding.
